Happy January!

One of the most important questions I get asked about laser is “Is laser hair removal safe?” Apart from being an excellent choice for permanent hair removal on any part of the body or face it is a safe and comfortable treatment.

The answer is both long and short- Yes on both counts. However, as with any high grade aesthetic treatment there can be risks.

The long answer is yes- laser hair removal is safe- provided the person conducting the treatment is properly qualified and experienced with both the theory of laser and the practical applications of laser on every skin colour and body area. The fast moving pace of developments in technology have advanced these type of treatments at lightening speed over the last 10 years. This is great news for us the professionals and you the client! The quality of equipment available to properly qualified practitioners is excellent and there is plenty of choice.

Most laser machines will do exactly as they say they will , safely and rid you of unwanted hair in the areas you don’t want it. The variable in this is the skill and experience of the person carrying out the procedure. The key things to check are: is your therapist or nurse qualified with a recognised laser level 4 or above qualification? Do they have experience at working with all skin colours at all levels? Are they trained to identify distinct and not so obvious contraindications? Are you going to see the same practitioner for the whole of your laser course?…….. If the answers to these key questions are YES then you will have a SAFE, COMFORTABLE and EFFECTIVE laser experience.

The short answer is based on the technological aspect of whether the treatment is safe. Yes. Laser as a discipline is a safe method of hair removal and bulk hair reduction. There is no excess radiation to penetrate the body, there are no long terms effects of laser on the body other than hair loss. This has been tried and tested at the highest level and passed by the medical industry.

Is laser hair removal safe? what are the risks?

The risks you could possibly encounter while undertaking laser treatments are normally associated with skin burns and grazes. These can occur even with careful execution of the laser if, for example, a change in the clients medical history, medications or sun exposure has not been disclosed or noted. If this were to happen your practitioner would advise on aftercare.

-YES laser hair removal is safe.

Is laser hair removal Permanent?

Yes laser hair removal permanent. The hair follicles that are affected by the laser stop producing hair. A superb method of removing unwanted hair from an area that you never want to see hair again!

Is laser hair removal painful?

No. Once you have had your consultation you will be offered a patch test. The patch test is essential for you to be able to experience how laser will feel and to see how it will react with your skin.

All lasers are different but here at Skinfit Face and Body Clinic in Hampton Middlesex I use a triple wavelength water cooling device with a sapphire tipped hand piece. This allows superior cooling, seamless glide and ultimate pain free comfort when having your treatment. the whole experience could not be better..
