This year has been a little crazy I must say but I think we have got there in the end. We are looking forward to Christmas with our clients this year, especially as last year we were closed for the third time. So how is your skin coping with all this very cold weather?
If you are a regular retinol user – which most of our clients are- you may be finding your skin to be slightly more sensitive than normal, especially when you have just used your magic vitamin A serum. The reason for this is simply that the skin has become dryer than normal. The 24/7 heating that your skin now has to cope with along with possibly less drinking water will slightly upset the water and oil film on the skin surface. This will make your skin a bit more tetchy… The solution is quite simple, make sure you drink more water (even though it’s winter!) and consider an upgrade for your moisturiser. Now is the time to go up a gear with the weight of your moisturiser. If you have a light touch cream you may need something heavier right now. Try it and see the difference!
If you have not yet considered retinol in its purest form then perhaps now is the time? Winter is a good time to upgrade all skin care routines and if you are over 30 retinol should by now be part of your basic daily skin care.
What are the benefits? Retinol is a derivative of Vitamin A which has been proved to be highly beneficial in stabilising the skin against environmental elements, increasing cellular turnover and most importantly it is the only product promoted medically to increase collagen production in the skin. It is most effective as a serum and can offered in different strengths according to age and skin tolerance. If you haven’t taken the plunge yet go for it!
For our Alumier loving clients you could try upgrading from Hydradew to Hydra rich for the winter and of course- add in the AGE serum for a total Christmas powerhouse!
